Happy Death Day’s Jessica Rothe Stars in Harrowing Sci-Fi Movie Imposters Trailer

Blue Finch Films has shared the teaser trailer for Imposters, the upcoming sci-fi thriller led by Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day franchise) and Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll, Andor). The movie will have its world premiere on March 15 at the 2026 SXSW Festival as part of the Midnighter section.

“In the film, after a couple’s baby boy is taken, the desperate mother learns of a way to bring him back. However, her husband begins to suspect that what she returned with isn’t their so,” reads the official synopsis.

What happens in the Imposters teaser trailer?

The video features Rothe as a mother whose desperate efforts to bring back her baby boy lead to something twisted. The teaser trailer offers a glimpse at some of the movie’s suspense-filled sequences involving Rothe’s character going completely mad. The ensemble cast also includes Yul Vazquez (Severance), Bates Wilder (Joy), Luisina Quarleri (The Pitt), Thomas Parobek (The Crowded Room), Taylor Karin (A Good Cop), and Ian Lyons (Julia).

Imposters is written and directed by Caleb Phillips in his feature-length directorial debut. The film is produced by Thomas Bond and Sara Seligman for Broken Pig Productions, along with Joe Bandelli. The creative team consists of cinematographer Allie Schultz, editor Nick Landa, composer Alex Winkler, production designer Marie Claire Marchant, and costume designer Glinda Suarez.

“Imposters is a mystery thriller inspired by my parents. It explores how much damage two people can do to themselves and the world around them when they refuse to change,” Phillips said in a statement. “I am very happy to be returning to SXSW. I can’t think of a better festival to be premiering my debut feature.”
