Phoebe Dynevor’s Netflix Shark Movie Gets Release Date, New Title, & First Photos

Netflix has revealed the title, release date, and first photos for a new shark movie starring Phoebe Dynevor.

Thrash is a thriller that follows a group of hurricane survivors who fight for their survival against deadly sharks.

“Amidst a catastrophic hurricane, a coastal town battles nature’s wrath and an onslaught of sharks,” the official synopsis reads. “Braving torrential rain, debris, and darkness, they unite to survive the deadly predators and make it through the storm.”

When is the release date for Netflix’s shark movie Thrash?

Thrash will stream exclusively on Netflix on April 10.

Thrash’s cast stars Dynevor as a pregnant woman, Djimon Hounsou as an oceanic researcher, and Whitney Peak as his agoraphobic niece. Meanwhile, Alyla Browne, Stacy Clausen, and Dante Ubaldi play a trio of foster siblings.

Thrash also stars Costa D’Angelo, Amy Mathews, Elijah Ungvary, Jon Prasida, Gemma Dart, Akosia Sabet, Sian Luxford, and Sami Afuni.

Tommy Wirkola, best known for helming 2022’s Violent Night, writes and directs Thrash. Adam McKay and Kevin Messick will serve as producers.

Thrash’s development originally began in 2024 at Columbia Pictures, with Sony titling the film Beneath the Storm for a theatrical release on August 1, 2025. The film was later retitled to Shiver and pushed to July 3, 2026.

In January, Sony removed Shiver from its theatrical release calendar, with Netflix picking up the shark thriller. The news came one week after Netflix and Sony agreed to continue their partnership with a $7 billion global pay-1 deal.

“We couldn’t be more excited to be back in business with all our friends at Netflix on this film,” McKay said in a statement. “We had a great experience together on Don’t Look Up and look forward to working with them to make this an event streaming release in 2026.”
