Tom Cruise Shoots Secret Video Scenes Directed by Wicked Director

In a carefully planned and secretive effort, Tom Cruise has been working on a new project, pushing his acting abilities and exploring fresh creative ground. The actor is crafting a visual masterpiece, secretly filming intense video scenes under Jon M. Chu’s direction, the mastermind behind Wicked.

Tom Cruise shoots a secret video for Paramount

Tom Cruise has been secretly filming a video for Paramount that promises to be a visually stunning experience. Sources indicate Cruise was filming scenes of a promotional piece for Paramount’s “brand new day”, following the company’s acquisition by David Ellison’s Skydance Media last summer (via hollywoodreporter.com).

Jon M. Chu, director of the Wicked films, is leading the project, a tribute to Paramount’s history, legacy, and future. Chu recently joined Paramount with a first-look deal, covering both film and TV. The studio’s future has been a hot topic in Hollywood for months, following its acquisition. The video is part of David Ellison‘s major overhaul of Paramount, marked by a string of high-profile deals.

These include a $110 billion bid for Warner Bros. Discovery, and talent deals with Chu, the Duffer Brothers, Will Smith’s Westbrook, James Mangold, and Issa Rae, under co-chairs Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein. Ellison has also snapped up Bari Weiss’ The Free Press, secured UFC rights for $7.7 billion, and partnered with Activision for a Call of Duty film franchise.

Tom Cruise has a decades-long bond with Paramount, thanks to hits like Top Gun and Mission: Impossible. He and David Ellison’s Skydance co-financed Top Gun: Maverick and recent Mission: Impossible films, cementing their partnership.

However, the 63-year-old had left Paramount in January 2024, signing with Warner Bros. His only announced project with Warner Bros. is Alejandro G. Iñárritu‘s Digger, releasing in October. Now, with Paramount’s acquisition, the actor is back on board.

Besides Tom Cruise, it is unclear which other celebrities or filmmakers will feature in the project, as it is still a work in progress. The film’s intended audience also remains uncertain, whether it will be for internal use or a wider public release.
