Lewis Pullman & Sally Field Lead Netflix Movie Remarkably Bright Creatures Trailer

Netflix has released the official teaser trailer for Remarkably Bright Creatures, the upcoming drama led by Academy Award winner Sally Field (Norma Rae) and Emmy nominee Lewis Pullman (Lessons in Chemistry, Thunderbolts*). The movie is scheduled to start streaming on May 8, 2026.

“A widow who works at a local aquarium finds joy again when she forms an unlikely bond with a Giant Pacific Octopus and a wayward young man who comes to town in search of family. Together, they will uncover a mystery that will lead them to a life-changing discovery and restore their sense of wonder,” reads the official synopsis.

What happens in the Remarkably Bright Creatures trailer?

The video shows Field as Tova, a widow who cleans the aquarium at night. It also offers a snippet of Spider-Man: No Way Home star Alfred Molina’s voice as Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus who forms an unlikely bond with Tova. The ensemble cast also includes Colm Meaney (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), Joan Chen (Saving Face), Kathy Baker (Edward Scissorhands), Beth Grant (No Country for Old Men), and Sofia Black D’Elia (Single Drunk Female).

Remarkably Bright Creatures is directed by Olivia Newman (Where the Crawdads Sing), who co-wrote the screenplay with John Whittington. The film is based on Shelby Van Pelt’s bestselling 2022 novel of the same name. It is executive-produced by Van Pelt, Newman, Erika Hampson, Alisa Tager, Tony Lipp, and Alyssa Rodrigues. Producers are Bryan Unkeless, Peter Craig, and David Levine.
