What happens in the Roommates trailer?
The video introduces the Grown Ups star’s daughter, Sadie Sandler, in her first major movie project as one of the leading characters. It features Sadie playing a college freshman as she deals with a difficult roommate, whose free-spirited personality leads her to become insensitive to her roommate’s boundaries. The trailer also highlights Devon’s long-time struggle with fitting in a friend group, while also teasing her blossoming relationship with a college boy.
Roommates is directed by Chandler Levack, with Jimmy Fowlie and Ceara Jane O’Sullivan writing the screenplay. This marks Sadie Sandler’s latest collaboration with her father, after appearing in last year’s Happy Gilmore 3 and Jay Kelly. The ensemble cast also includes Chloe East, Billy Bryk, Sarah Sherman, Martin Herlihy, Josh Segarra, Carol Kane, Janeane Garofalo, Aidan Langford, Bella Murphy, Jaya Harper, Storm Reid, Ivy Wolk, and Bailee Madison, with Natasha Lyonne and Nick Kroll.
The film is executive-produced by Judit Maull, Kevin Grady, and Jackie Shenoo. Adam Sandler is producing alongside Tim Herlihy. Before Sadie, her younger sister, Sunny Sandler, also got to lead her own coming-of-age Netflix movie in 2023, titled You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah.
