2021’s Clifford the Big Red Dog is out on Netflix now. The live-action animated fantasy comedy comes from director Walt Becker. The movie is based on the iconic children’s book series by Norman Bridwell, and follows the story of a middle school girl who adopts the titular dog, who quickly grows into a gigantic, 10-foot-tall dog.

Alongside Thompson and Cleese, Clifford the Big Red Dog also starred Jack Whitehall, Darby Camp, Tony Hale, Sienne Guillory, David Alan Grier, Russell Wong, and more. The movie was written by Jay Scherick, David Ronn, and Blaise Hemingway.

“When Emily Elizabeth meets a magical animal rescuer who gives her a little red puppy, she never anticipated waking up to find a giant, 10-foot hound in her small New York City apartment. With her single mother away on business, Emily and her fun but impulsive uncle set out on an adventure that takes a bite out of the Big Apple,” reads the film’s official synopsis.

The movie was originally set to release in theaters in 2021, but was delayed by a few months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Eventually, the film was released in November 2021. It received mostly mixed reviews and earned over $100 million at the box office.
