A new action-adventure sci-fi movie has toppled Scarlett Johansson‘s 2025 blockbuster on Netflix‘s top 10 list of most-watched films. The new movie was released three days ago, but has already managed to cultivate a strong audience. As a result of its strong viewership, the film has climbed to the top spot on streaming analytics charts.
War Machine tops Netflix streaming charts
Alan Ritchson’s War Machine is the #1 movie on Netflix’s top 10 list in the United States as of March 9, 2026, according to FlixPatrol. Accordingly, it outranks Scarlett Johansson’s Jurassic World Rebirth, which is now #2. Moreover, it is also the #1 film internationally.
The new movie also surpasses Nuremberg (#3), Trap House (#4), Trolls (#5), Jurassic World (#6), Jurassic World: Dominion (#7), Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale (#8), KPop Demon Hunters (#9), and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (#10).
War Machine, which received positive reviews, has performed decently on Rotten Tomatoes. It holds a fresh 69% critical score on the Tomatometer and a 73% audience score on the Popcornmeter. Meanwhile, Metacritic, which uses a weighted average to determine its Metascore, has given it 54, denoting “mixed or average” reception. On the other hand, the user score for War Machine is 6.9, pointing to “generally favorable” reception.
Set against the backdrop of a grueling special ops boot camp, the story follows an army unit going up against a terrifying mechanical threat. The film’s setting, aesthetics, and theme have reportedly been compared to films and video games like Predator, Edge of Tomorrow, and Metal Gear Solid.
Patrick Hughes directed the film from his and James Beaufort’s screenplay. He also co-produced it with Alexander Young and Todd Lieberman.
Alan Ritchson leads the cast as 81. Stephan James, Blake Richardson, Dennis Quaid, Esai Morales, Jai Courtney, Alex King, Keiynan Lonsdale, Jack Patten, Daniel Webber, and James Beaufort all play supporting roles in the film.
The film marks the first collaboration between Ritchson and Hughes. The pair are reportedly reuniting for an untitled Amazon MGM Studios film based on NAVY Seal Mike Thornton.
