Oscar Piastri Ignored Brad Pitt on F1 Set for This Hilarious Reason
Australian racing driver Oscar Piastri was standing next to the legendary Hollywood star Brad Pitt while filming for F1, but the nine-time Formula One Grands Prix winner did not interact with the actor at all. His mother, Nicole, spoke in a recent interview, where she explained why her son did not speak to Pitt during the filming.
Oscar Piastri’s mother reveals F1 star didn’t speak to Brad Pitt on set
During the filming of the Academy Award-nominated racing film, F1, Australian star Oscar Piastri rubbed shoulders with Brad Pitt, but ended up not interacting with him at all. The reason why he did not speak to Pitt was rather hilarious.
F1 featured many real-life drivers throughout the premise. It included Piastri, who stood beside Pitt’s Sonny Hayes in the driver line-up when they were singing the national anthem. However, despite being this close, Piastri did not have any interaction with Pitt.
In a recent interview with the Herald Sun in Australia, Piastri’s mother, Nicole, shed light on this interaction, or the lack of it. “We watched the F1 movie, he made no mention of that, and in one scene he’s standing next to Brad Pitt in the driver line up when they’re singing the national anthem,” she said, “So when I spoke to him the next time I said, ‘I know you’ve met Brad Pitt’, he said ‘I’m pretty sure I haven’t’. I go, ‘Mate, I saw you. I saw him standing next to you.'”
Oscar insisted that he did not speak to Pitt, and when his mother asked him the reason, he had a hilarious response. “He goes, ‘What are you going to say to that old guy?’ So, fame has not changed him one bit,” she explained.
There is a nearly four-decade age gap between Piastri and Pitt, and it seems that Piastri did not interact with the actor because he could not conjure up anything to talk about.
F1 went on to receive great critical and commercial acclaim across the world. It has also received nominations at the Academy Awards 2026.
