Shia LaBeouf Rearrested on Battery Charges in New Orleans — Report
Shia LaBeouf has reportedly been rearrested in New Orleans after authorities issued a new warrant in connection with an ongoing battery case. The latest development adds another misdemeanor charge to the actor’s legal situation stemming from a February incident during Mardi Gras celebrations.
New reports claim Shia LaBeouf has been arrested again in New Orleans
The actor surrendered to police on Saturday after prosecutors obtained a warrant accusing him of head-butting a third victim during the February 17 altercation at the R Bar in the city’s Marigny neighborhood. LaBeouf initially faced two counts of simple battery following the incident.
According to reported court records, LaBeouf voluntarily turned himself in before a bail hearing Saturday afternoon, where he posted a $5,000 bond. He remains out of custody while awaiting the outcome of the case.
The new warrant brings the total number of alleged victims to three. WWL Louisiana first reported the additional arrest Friday evening, with The Guardian independently verifying the information through a criminal justice source.
LaBeouf was first booked on February 17 after police responded to reports of a disturbance at the R Bar around 12.45 a.m. Witnesses alleged that the actor shouted homophobic slurs and punched multiple people after being asked to leave the establishment. Following that arrest, LaBeouf was released on his own recognizance without posting bond. He was later seen that same day on New Orleans’ famous Bourbon Street.
Jeffrey Damnit, a local entertainer identified in police reports as Jeffrey Klein, told the Associated Press he was among those attacked by LaBeouf. “He hit me, he connected a few times with punches, he pushed me a few times,” Damnit said. The warrant issued Friday came one day after LaBeouf appeared in New Orleans criminal district court for a hearing on the initial charges.
LaBeouf has not yet entered a plea in the case. The Orleans Parish district attorney’s office is continuing its prosecution of the misdemeanor charges.
