Bo-Katan’s Star Wars Future Confirmed by Katee Sackhoff
Katee Sackhoff addressed ongoing questions about Bo-Katan Kryze’s future in Star Wars during a recent fan event appearance. The longtime actor behind the Mandalorian leader offered clarity on where the character stands within the franchise following her most recent live-action appearance.
Why Bo-Katan may never die in Star Wars
Bo-Katan Kryze may never die in Star Wars because, as Katee Sackhoff confirmed, the character is not dead and remains positioned for future stories. The Direct attended Fan Expo Vancouver panel on Saturday, February 14, where Katee said Bo-Katan “ain’t going anywhere.” She added, “Always! She’s not dead. She ain’t going anywhere.”
Sackhoff also cited the character’s origin as further assurance of longevity. She explained, “She can’t, because she’s based off Dave Filoni’s wife. So I have job security forever. Anne [Convery] would be so pissed.” Sackhoff previously stated on her podcast that Bo-Katan’s name was derived from Anne Convery and her cat, Boogie, and clarified that the character’s look was based on Convery, not herself.
Katee Sackhoff began voicing Bo-Katan in 2008 on Star Wars: The Clone Wars and later reprised the role in Star Wars Rebels before bringing the character into live-action in The Mandalorian.
She appeared in 10 episodes of The Mandalorian and earned a promotion to series regular in Season 3. In her most recent appearance, Bo-Katan relit the Great Forge and began reconstructing Mandalore, which keeps her storyline open.
With The Mandalorian Season 4 delayed until the release of The Mandalorian & Grogu, Sackhoff’s next appearance is unconfirmed. Bo-Katan could also return in Ahsoka Season 2, as both series share a timeline and established character history.
Sackhoff also reflected on wearing the armor in live-action for the first time, stating, “I put my armor on for the first time, and Dave Filoni was there, and we both cried a little bit.”
