Martin Short postpones comedy tour with Steve Martin

Martin Short has postponed upcoming dates on The Best of Steve Martin & Martin Short tour following the death of his daughter, Katherine Hartley Short. The Feb. 27 performance at Milwaukee’s Miller High Life Theatre and two Feb. 28 shows in Minneapolis have been postponed. Venue notices state the changes were made due to “unforeseen circumstances.”

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Steve Martin & Martin Short’s show, originally scheduled for Friday, February 27th in Milwaukee, has been postponed,” reads a notice on the Milwaukee venue’s website. “Tickets will be honored for a future rescheduled date. We will be in contact with further news when it is available.” Both venue sites indicate tickets will be valid for rescheduled dates.

The next scheduled stop on the tour remains March 13 at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, DC. Staff members at the theaters told TMZ it was unclear whether the postponed shows would take place, and that a decision was made behind the scenes to pull the scheduled performances. Short tours with Steve Martin, his Only Murders in the Building co-star.

Katherine, 42, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to TMZ, which cited law enforcement sources. LAPD and the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to her Hollywood Hills home on Monday shortly after 6:40 PM PT, where she was found deceased. Authorities confirmed the call was about a possible suicide.

“It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short,” a family representative said in a statement. “The Short family is devastated by this loss, and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.”

Katherine was the eldest of Short’s three children with late wife Nancy Dolman, who died in 2010 of ovarian cancer.
