Martin Short’s Daughter Katherine Passes Away at Age 42

Martin Short’s daughter, Katherine, passed away at the age of 42.

According to a report from TMZ on the matter, Short’s daughter died on Monday by an apparent suicide. Los Angeles police and fire departments responded to her home in Hollywood Hills this week, where news originally began coming out. In a statement on the matter, a representative for Short confirmed the news, and honored Short as a beloved member of their family.

“It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short,” said Short’s representative. “The Short family is devastated by this loss, and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.”

Short was the daughter of the Only Murders in the Building star and the late Nancy Dolman, Short’s wife of 30 years who passed away in 2010 due to ovarian cancer. Martin’s daughter worked as a social worker in Los Angeles, according to TMZ, after receiving her bachelor’s degree from NYU and a master’s in social work from USC.

She was involved in the Bring Change 2 Mind organization, which works to break down stigmas around mental health issues. Although the daughter of a famous celebrity, Short kept out of the limelight herself, and was only ever seen accompanying her family to various events.
