Neve Campbell teases Ghostface suspect for Scream 8
Neve Campbell has shared an interesting theory about a potential suspect if the franchise moves forward with Scream 8. While speaking about the future of the series ahead of the release of Scream 7, the actor discussed fan speculation. She even suggested characters in the story that might raise some questions.
During the discussion, Campbell reacted to a fan theory suggesting that Gale Weathers, played by Courteney Cox, may not be as innocent as she appears. She responded to the fan comment that read, “The way that Gail shows up whenever there’s a Ghostface in town.” Campbell acknowledged the observation and replied, “She does happen to show up every time… That should be suspect! What’s that about?”
The discussion also turned to the return of Matthew Lillard, who played Stu Macher in the original Scream. His involvement in the upcoming sequel has sparked speculation among fans because the character appeared to die in the first film when Sidney dropped a television on him. Reading a fan comment, the interviewer said, “That’s 1000000% Matthew Millard’s voice at the end.” Campbell replied, “There’s been a lot out there about Matt being involved in this film, and I think he’s even talked about it a bit.”
The exchange continued with a joke about what Sidney’s reaction might be if Stu had actually survived the events of the original film. The interviewer said, “If he does come back, I am sure Sidney’s going to be annoyed that she didn’t finish the job with that TV.” Campbell responded, “She’s gonna be pissed, right?”
The latest sequel follows Sidney as she tries to protect her daughter, Tatum, from a new Ghostface. Scream 7 is scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 27, 2026.
