Latest Sony Movie Beats Wuthering Heights, Tops at Box Office
A tight box office race has a new leader. After going head to head with Wuthering Heights in recent weeks, Sony’s latest animated release has edged ahead, shifting the domestic rankings as February winds down.
Wuthering Heights loses top spot at weekend box office to Goat
According to Variety and Box Office Mojo, Sony’s animated film GOAT unseated Wuthering Heights at the domestic box office, earning $17 million from 3,863 theaters over the Feb. 20 to 22 weekend. The film declined 36% from its debut, while Wuthering Heights followed with $14.2 million from 3,682 venues, marking a 57% drop in its second frame.
GOAT has generated $58.3 million domestically and $102.3 million worldwide against an $80 million production budget. Internationally, it added $17 million from 51 territories, bringing its overseas total to $44 million. The United Kingdom leads with $14.5 million, followed by Mexico with $3.4 million and France with $3 million.
Director Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights has grossed $59.5 million in North America and $91.7 million internationally. The film has reached $151.7 million worldwide against an $80 million production budget. The film collected $26.3 million from 76 overseas markets over the weekend, ranking No. 1 internationally. Its top foreign territories include the United Kingdom with $22.5 million, Italy with $9.4 million and Australia with $8.3 million.
Among new releases, I Can Only Imagine 2 debuted at No. 3 with $8 million from 3,105 theaters and received an A+ grade on CinemaScore exit polls. A24’s How to Make a Killing opened in sixth place with $3.5 million from 1,600 screens. Disney’s 20th Century and New Regency thriller Psycho Killer launched in 11th with $1.6 million from 1,100 theaters.
Neon’s concert film EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert placed seventh with $3.2 million from 325 Imax screens. “We’re excited to see audiences connecting with ‘EPiC.’ It’s a powerful testament to the enduring impact of the King,” said Neon chief distribution officer Elissa Federoff. Overall domestic revenues trail 2025 by 5%, according to Comscore.
