Scream 7 Has ‘Legit Reason’ for Dead Character’s Shocking Return

Scream 7 will bring back multiple characters who previously died, including one with a “legit reason” for a return.

What did Scott Foley say about his dead character’s return in Scream 7?

Scott Foley is set to reprise his role as Roman Bridger in Scream 7. In Scream 3, Roman was revealed to be the Ghostface killer and Sidney Prescott’s half-brother. Ultimately, Roman died when Dewey shot him in the head.

According to Foley, there is no confusion about the fate of his character.

“He definitely died in Scream 3. We saw it happen,” Foley said about Roman on the Happy Horror Time podcast.

Upon being cast in Scream 7, Foley was confused—how could a dead character return? After speaking with Kevin Williamson and shooting his part, Foley revealed that it started to make sense.

“But the way Kevin figured out his place in this film, at least in my mind, when it was explained to me and when we shot it, made complete sense and didn’t seem like it was going to be one of those things where people would see it and be like, ‘Come on,'” Foley added. “It seemed like it could happen, like, there’s a legit reason behind his appearance.”

Foley is not the only dead character returning for Scream 7. Matthew Lillard is back as Stu Macher, one of the Ghostface killers who died in Scream.

Neve Campbell headlines Scream 7 as Sidney Prescott. The ensemble includes Courteney Cox, Isabel May, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Anna Camp, and Joel McHale.

“When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott (Campbell) has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter (May) becomes the next target,” the official synopsis reads. “Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.”

Scream 7 opens in theaters on February 27, 2026.
