Avengers: Secret Wars & The Batman Part II Get Major Production Updates

Both Avengers: Secret Wars and the upcoming The Batman Part II received some big production updates in a recent report.

According to a new Q&A session in Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider newsletter, Sneider was asked whether or not Avengers: Secret Wars would be split into two parts, which has been a popular rumor as of now.

Sneider said that as of now, Marvel Studios doesn’t plan on splitting up the movie. While that might have been mentioned somewhere, Sneider notes that it is “not being seriously discussed” right now, mostly due to the enormous cast and scheduling it would require to split the movie into two parts.

Currently, Avengers: Secret Wars is set to release on December 17, 2027, a year after Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to release on December 18, 2026. Little is known about the movie as of this time.

The Batman Part II production rumors debunked

In a separate question regarding the status of the highly anticipated The Batman Part II. Specifically, Sneider was asked if the movie’s production was being pushed to next year, due to Robert Pattinson’s planned press tour for The Odyssey.

Sneider also debunked this rumor, noting that production for the sequel is still set to begin sometime in the summer. As for The Odyssey, Sneider noted that Pattinson’s obligations to his role as Batman were considered already, so he’ll be able to do both the press tour for Christopher Nolan’s movie as well as film the sequel.

Pattinson will reprise his role as Batman in the movie, while the rest of the cast remains mostly unknown. Scarlett Johansson was recently reported to be involved in the film as well as Harvey Dent’s wife. Other cast members from the original film, including Colin Farrell’s Oz Cobb/The Penguin, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, are likely to return for the sequel.

Co-written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, The Batman 2 is expected to see Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell reprise their respective roles as Jim Gordon, Alfred Pennyworth, and the Penguin. Zoe Kravitz, meanwhile, is not expected to return as Catwoman/Selina Kyle. Production on the film begins this coming spring.

The Batman 2 will be released in the United States on October 1, 2027.
