Ethan Hawke, Mackenzie Ziegler, & Steve Zahn Star in She Dances Trailer

The first She Dances trailer has been released for the upcoming comedy drama starring Ethan Hawke, Mackenzie Ziegler, and Steve and Audrey Zahn. The film had its premiere at the Tribeca Festival last year. It is currently set to release in theaters in March 27, 2026.

“Forced to reconnect on the road to her final dance competition, a father and daughter must confront their fractured relationship,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “As they navigate a shared tragedy, the whirlwind of the Young Miss Southeast Regional Dance Finals becomes the backdrop for their journey toward healing. She Dances is a story about rediscovering family and finding yourself—about accepting what is, letting it shape you, and recognizing who you are through the memories of those you love most.”

What happens in the She Dances trailer?

The She Dances trailer highlights two friends taking a trip to their final dance finals. In order to go, Jason (Zahn) accompanies the pair as a chaperone, while attempting to heal the strained relationship the pair has regarding a tragedy that occurred in the past.

She Dances stars Hawke, Steve Zahn, Audrey Zahn, Mackenzie Ziegler, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Rosemarie DeWitt. The film is directed by Rick Gomez and comes from a script co-written by Gomez and Zahn. The pair also serves as producers, alongside Jenny Gomez, Mandi Reno, Jenifer Westphal, Coby Toland, and Jason Reed.

Hawke is coming off a busy 2025. The star appeared in three films during the year, including the highly anticipated Black Phone 2, as well as Blue Moon, where he played Lorenz Hart and earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. Zahn also appeared in a handful of projects in 2025, including starring in the Anaconda meta-reboot movie.
