John Cena & Kate McKinnon Try to Claim a Fortune in New Netflix Movie

Netflix has officially welcomed three new cast members to its upcoming crypto comedy movie, One Attempt Remaining, which hails from Stranger Things executive producer Shawn Levy.

Per Deadline, John Cena (Peacemaker), Kate McKinnon (Barbie), and Aimee Carrero (Your Friends and Neighbors) have signed on to star opposite Jennifer Garner (Yes Day) in her newest collaboration with the streamer. This also marks the third time that Garner and Levy will be working together following 2022’s The Adam Project and 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.

What do we know about Netflix’s One Attempt Remaining movie?

“The film follows an ex-couple who, years after their acrimonious divorce, learn that the cryptocurrency they won on a crazy night on a cruise is now worth millions… but they’ve forgotten the password,” reads the initial synopsis. “With only three days left before the account expires, they must retrace their steps that night, not just to find the password to their fortune, but also why they fell in love in the first place.”

One Attempt Remaining will be directed by Kay Cannon, who co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Boothe and Alexa Alemanni. Levy and Dan Levine are producing for 21 Laps, along with Nicole King for Linden Productions and Garner. It will also be executive-produced by Cannon, 21 Laps’ Becca Edelman, Deanna Barillari, and Bergen Swanson.

Besides the upcoming Netflix movie, Cena is currently attached to star in a few high-profile projects this year, including the rescued Coyote vs. Acme movie, Mattel Studios’ Matchbox: The Movie, and the comedy film Little Brother. As for McKinnon, she will next be seen in the Neon’s The Wrong Girls movie, Andrew Stanton’s sci-fi movie In the Blink of an Eye, and Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3.
