Masters of the Universe Action Figure Highlights Skeletor’s New Form

A newly revealed action figure may have quietly confirmed a significant change for Skeletor in the upcoming Masters of the Universe film. Recent promotional artwork tied to the toy line hints at an upgrade for the franchise’s central villain, suggesting a shift in how he will appear on screen.

Skeletor’s Masters of the Universe action figure shows him riding a flying Roton

An X (formerly Twitter) post from @HeManiaOfficial states, “SKELETOR ON A ROTON! It appears Skeletor will be flying a Roton in the New ‘Masters of the Universe’ Movie, based on the toy packaging art for the ‘First Ones’ Core Roton upcoming toy.” The post includes an image of the toy packaging and references the “First Ones” Core Roton. The message connects the packaging art directly to the upcoming film.

Eternia’s villains often utilized the Roton in the 1980s animated series. In prior depictions, Skeletor typically remained at Snake Mountain, a fortress that kept him safe while his minions fought on his behalf. The series portrayed him as menacing rather than physically entering battles.

The new packaging presents a shift by placing Skeletor directly on the flying vehicle. The company identifies the toy line as “First Ones” and labels the vehicle as a Core Roton. The promotional artwork visually signals the character’s upgraded mobility.

The film stars Jared Leto as Skeletor and Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man. Additional cast members include Camila Mendes as Teela and Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress. Amazon MGM Studios acquired the movie after previous development attempts.

The story follows 10-year-old Prince Adam, who crashes to Earth in a spaceship and becomes separated from his magical Power Sword, his only connection to Eternia. Nearly two decades later, he recovers the sword and returns across space to defend his home planet from Skeletor’s forces.

The studio will release the film theatrically on June 5, 2026.
