Shia LaBeouf Arrested After Alleged Assault During Mardi Gras
Shia LaBeouf has been arrested following an alleged assault that occurred during Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
LaBeouf is an actor who got his start in Hollywood playing Louis Stevens in Disney Channel’s Even Stevens. He then went on to star in movies such as 2003’s Holes, 2007’s Disturbia, 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, 2008’s Eagle Eye, 2010’s Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, 2013’s Nymphomaniac, 2014’s Fury, 2016’s American Honey, 2019’s The Peanut Butter Falcon, 2020’s Pieces of a Woman, 2024’s Megalopolis, and more, while he also led the first three Michael Bay Transformers movie.
Why was Shia LaBeouf arrested?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, LaBeouf, who has previously been treated for alcoholism, was arrested shortly after midnight on Tuesday, February 17, by the New Orleans Police Department following “an extended weekend bar crawl during Mardi Gras in New Orleans’ Uptown neighborhood, according to employees of various drinking establishments.”
The article states that LaBeouf was “allegedly causing a disturbance and becoming increasingly aggressive at a business, which TMZ reported was a bar, on Royal Street. A staff member attempted to eject LaBeouf from the business, but after he was removed from the building, LaBeouf allegedly hit one man several times with closed fists. He then, according to the police report, left but came back, allegedly acting more [aggressively].
“After multiple people attempted to hold him down, LaBeouf was let up, the police report states, ‘in hopes that he would leave,’ but he then allegedly resumed hitting the same man whom he allegedly punched earlier. He then allegedly punched another person in the nose and was held down until the police arrived.”
LaBeouf was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for unknown injuries. He was then arrested and charged with two counts of simple battery.
