New SpongeBob Movie Sets Paramount+ Streaming Release Date

Bikini Bottom is about to make another splash on streaming. Paramount has decided on the digital debut for the franchise’s latest big-screen adventure, giving fans a clear release date to circle. With familiar voices returning and the long-running animated brand still pulling strong numbers, the next chapter is poised to draw major family viewership on its new home.

The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants begins streaming very soon

The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants is heading to streaming on Paramount+ starting February 17, officially making the jump from theaters to at-home viewing (via Variety). The fast move fits the franchise’s current plan that involves giving the film a theatrical run, then quickly boosting it with a strong push on Paramount’s own platform.

The 2025 animated adventure follows SpongeBob SquarePants and his Bikini Bottom crew as they dive into another wild mission loaded with the show’s signature goofy humor and chaos. Eager to show Mr. Krabs he’s got courage, SpongeBob SquarePants sets off after the mysterious ghost pirate Flying Dutchman. The move pulls him into a swashbuckling ocean quest that sends him plunging into the deepest, most dangerous parts of the sea.

The movie comes from director Derek Drymon, a longtime creative force in the SpongeBob world, and is produced under the Nickelodeon Movies banner. Paramount Pictures handled distribution. At the box office, the film delivered a solid showing during its theatrical run, and earned around $165 million.

The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants features returning voice stars including Tom Kenny as SpongeBob, Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick, Clancy Brown as Mr. Krabs, Rodger Bumpass as Squidward, and Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy, with Mark Hamill voicing the Flying Dutchman.

On review platforms, the film currently has around a 5.7/10 rating on IMDb. Meanwhile, it holds roughly an 80% critics score and about 68% audience approval on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating mixed-to-positive reception overall.
