Popular Brad Pitt Movie’s Sequel Officially Greenlit, Jerry Bruckheimer Reveals

Fans of a popular Brad Pitt movie released in 2025 will be happy to learn that a sequel has been officially greenlit. The positive update comes from the film’s producer, Jerry Bruckheimer.

F1: The Movie is officially getting a sequel. On Tuesday, Bruckheimer attended the Academy Awards luncheon as a nominee for producing F1, the hit sports drama set in the world of Formula One racing. While speaking to the BBC, Bruckheimer confirmed that F1 2 is on the way.

What did Jerry Bruckheimer say about the F1 sequel?

“We’re working on a sequel,” Bruckheimer confirmed. While Bruckheimer did not confirm details about the plot or cast, particularly if Pitt would return, the F1 producer did say that he would be involved in casting decisions.

Bruckheimer’s comments come one week after Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali told fans to “stay tuned” for a future announcement about the F1 sequel.

“We’re going to tell you something more in the future,” Domenicali said. “Never say never. But we need to digest more the success of this movie because it was something unique. And if you want to think of a new one, it has to be really, very, very good. Therefore, if this will happen, it will not be for next year. But maybe next year we’re going to be here [at the press day], and hopefully we have something more to announce [then].”

In F1, Pitt stars as Sonny Hayes, a washed-up driver who gets his shot at redemption when a former teammate asks him to race for his F1 team. Sonny’s main priority is to mentor Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), a cocky rookie who still has a lot to learn.

Top Gun: Maverick’s Joseph Kosinski directed F1 from a screenplay written by Ehren Kruger. Released in June 2025, F1 grossed over $633 million worldwide, the most ever for a film by Apple Studios. F1 received four Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.

F1 is now streaming on Apple TV.
