Margot Robbie Reviews Wuthering Heights Co-Star’s Hit Gothic Movie

Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein has garnered high praise since its release, with Margot Robbie recently sharing her “love” for the film. In a recent interview, Robbie shared her opinion on her Wuthering Heights co-star Jacob Elordi’s Gothic feature and spoke about its appeal to audiences and creatives.

While speaking with Comic Book Resources‘ Grae Drake, the Australian actress reviewed Jacob Elordi’s Frankenstein movie by stating that she “loved” it.

“Guillermo actually showed me a somewhat earlier cut, and I was blown away,” Margot Robbie said of Frankenstein, adding, “For me, I loved it.”

She then highlighted the recent resurgence of a particular horror aesthetic, noting, “There’s a real resurgence of the Gothic right now. It’s so fun. And I can see why, because it’s really emotional storytelling with [an] aesthetic in lockstep, and really utilizing people’s craft and skills on a big scale. That is so exciting. And why wouldn’t that be exciting to filmmakers and heads of each of their departments?”

The Suicide Squad star concluded by emphasizing her appreciation for the Gothic movie, stating, “I’m loving it. I love what Guillermo is doing, and has always done.”

A large number of critics seem to agree with Margot Robbie’s review of Frankenstein, as evidenced by its 85% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Oscar-winner Guillermo del Toro’s latest movie has also made big waves this award season too, securing five nominations at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards and nine nominations at the 98th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor for Elordi.

Elordi and Robbie’s new film together, Wuthering Heights, has garnered more divisive reactions from critics. In his review, ComingSoon.net‘s Jonathan Sim stated that the film is “not the most faithful adaptation, nor the most emotionally accessible romance, but it delivers on its promise of an epic love story.”
