2025’s Divisive Sci-Fi Sequel Is a Streaming Hit Now
The 2025 sci-fi movie M3GAN 2.0 has become a big streaming hit on HBO Max. The film has even grabbed the top spot on the charts in many countries. Directed by Gerard Johnstone, the sequel wasn’t as big a success as its predecessor and was considered a flop at the box office on release. M3GAN 2.0 has become a streaming hit and has topped the charts on HBO Max. The movie was released on June 27, 2025, and was a flop at the box office. However, the film is finding a wider audience on streaming.
According to Flix Patrol, M3GAN 2.0 has taken the number one spot this week on HBO Max in countries like Argentina, the Bahamas, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, and many more. Additionally, the movie has topped the charts by surpassing movies like Spider-Man: Homecoming and Sinners.
At the box office, M3GAN 2.0 made an opening of around $10 million from 3,112 theaters. Its domestic collection was around $24 million, whereas in the international market, the movie made close to $14 million. This took the movie’s lifetime collection to $39 million. The sequel wasn’t able to replicate the success of its predecessor, M3GAN, which came out on January 6, 2023. The 2023 movie opened with $30 million and made around $95 million at the domestic market. It also took $84 million in the international market. This took its total box office collection to over $180 million.
