He starred as a man who escapes to the remote woods of Northern England, trying to reckon with old wounds. The cast around the leads added gravitas to the story. Sean Bean took on the role of the withdrawn brother, while Samantha Morton and Samuel Bottomley filled out the film’s tight-knit lineup.
