Andy Samberg hints Jason Momoa’s action movie could film this year
Andy Samberg has shared a new update on the Netflix action comedy he is developing with Jason Momoa, hinting that the project may finally be nearing the production stage.
The actor recently addressed its progress in an interview with ScreenRant. He said work on the script has been moving steadily and expressed optimism that filming could begin in 2026. According to the actor, writers Rob Klein and John Solomon are making strong headway on the screenplay and are close to completing the latest draft.
Samberg also offered some lighthearted insight into why the film has taken time to move forward. He pointed to Momoa’s packed schedule as one of the challenges. He joked his co star’s constant presence in new movie trailers, saying that the Aquaman star “is in everything this year.” The actor also recalled teasing Momoa about appearing in nearly every major release.
Despite the wait, Samberg stressed his excitement about the film and his confidence in the creative team. He spoke warmly about Klein and Solomon, saying, “They’re two of the funniest people I know, and I love ‘em.” The actor also added, “It’s at Netflix, and I’m hyped, I’m really, really excited for it. I think it’s going to be funny and hopefully big.”
The film was first announced in the summer of 2025, when Netflix secured the rights to the currently untitled feature. At that time, it was revealed that both actors would headline and produce the movie through their companies, Party Over Here and On The Roam.
