Supergirl’s new trailer teases Krypton’s destruction and Kara and Krypto’s first meeting

DC Studios released a new teaser for Supergirl (2026) during the Puppy Bowl, highlighting Krypton’s destruction and introducing the emotional origin of Kara Zor-El’s bond with Krypto.

The footage shows Kara (Milly Alcock) meeting baby Krypto during a Kryptonian ceremony before the planet falls. The trailer tracks Kara and Ruthye (Eve Ridley) as they launch a vengeance-driven quest that drives the film’s narrative.

The teaser builds on clips from the original trailer and adds new material. It shows Krypto knocking over a bottle on a record player and dodging sparks. Alcock describes the “unbreakable bond” between Kara and Krypto. Their connection forms as they survive Krypton’s destruction together. The footage also includes a bar fight scene with Supergirl.

James Gunn promoted the spot on social media, writing, “Best boy alert! Keep watching #PuppyBowl to see which player wins the Krypto Superhero Play inspired by this super pup! #Supergirl lands in theaters June 26.”

The film adapts Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. In the comic, a poisoned arrow wounds Krypto, prompting Supergirl to pursue an interstellar revenge mission. In the film, Matthias Schoenaerts portrays Krem of the Yellow Hills, and Jason Momoa plays Lobo, a character absent from the original comic but drawn from King’s early concepts.

Momoa commented, “My first scene in [Supergirl] is like, ‘I’m fucking born to do this.’” He added, “Once I go on that press tour, [you’ll see] ‘My first shot was this. Could you do this?’”

Craig Gillespie directs from a script by Ana Nogueira. The cast also includes David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and more. The film premieres in IMAX and theaters across North America on June 26, 2026, with international release beginning June 24, 2026, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
