Disney Pixar’s Hoppers Gets New Big Game Super Bowl Spot
Pixar has just scored a major field position for its next original film, as the studio debuted a brand-new Super Bowl spot for the upcoming animated adventure Hoppers during the Big Game broadcast. The spot revealed an exciting new trailer ahead of its March theatrical release.
Hoppers’ Super Bowl spot reveals new footage from Pixar’s latest
The newly released Hoppers Super Bowl spot introduces viewers to the film’s central idea: a group of scientists invents a way to “hop” human minds into lifelike robotic animal bodies. The technology becomes the catalyst for the story’s larger environmental and emotional stakes.
The trailer focuses on Mabel, an animal-loving teenager who uses the invention to transfer her consciousness into a robotic beaver. From there, she becomes entangled in a fight to stop a construction company from destroying the local animal habitat. The Super Bowl spot expands on earlier teasers by showing more of the animal society Mabel encounters and the escalating threat posed by human development.
Alongside its premise, the Hoppers big game spot highlights the film’s voice cast, which includes Piper Curda as Mabel, Bobby Moynihan as King George the beaver, and Jon Hamm as Mayor Jerry. The cast also features Kathy Najimy as biology professor Dr. Sam, Dave Franco as Titus, Ego Nwodim as Fish Queen, Sam Richardson as grad student Conner, and Meryl Streep as the Insect Queen.
Directed by We Bare Bears creator Daniel Chong, Hoppers has been in development at Pixar for several years. The Super Bowl footage leans into a tactile visual style, contrasting the mechanical design of the robotic animals with the organic movement of the natural world they inhabit.
The film is set to premiere at the New York International Children’s Film Festival on February 28 before opening in theaters on March 6.
