What happens in the Imbalance movie?
The video introduces Lawrence’s character Elizabeth as a professor whose personal life and career are jeopardized after she begins a forbidden romance with a teaching assistant. The trailer highlights the moral dilemma she’ll be facing. The timely movie will also star Karin delaPeña Collison, Paul Witten, James Morrison, and Megan Elizabeth Barker.
Imbalance is written, directed, and produced by Dale Griffiths Stamos. The movie was filmed in Santa Barbara, and is described as a cinematic love letter to the city’s beauty and cultural landscape. Gretel Snyder is producing, while Eva Haller is serving as an executive producer. Sean Blodgett is a consulting producer, editor, and post-production supervisor.
“Imbalance is a story about what happens when a woman of the mind is challenged by an unexpected passion and begins to sacrifice her own ethical standards,” Stamos said in a statement. “I also wanted to explore how charged teacher-student relationships have become in academia — particularly in the wake of #MeToo — and how these dynamics mirror broader power imbalances in workplace romances.”
