Remain Release Date Delayed for M. Night Shyamalan’s New Movie With Jake Gyllenhaal
M. Night Shyamalan’s next movie, Remain, has been delayed, with its release date pushed back a bit for the movie starring Jake Gyllenhaal.
When is the new release date for M. Night Shyamalan’s Remain?
Remain’s new release date is set for February 5, 2027, shifting the release date of the film back about four months. The film was previously set to release on October 23, 2026, but is set to open 2027 instead.
Currently, little is known about the upcoming project. It’s been described as a “supernatural romantic thriller” based on an original story by both Shyamalan and author Nicholas Sparks, who is best known for works including The Notebook, Dear John, The Last Song, and more, many of which have also been turned into movies.
Alongside Gyllenhaal, the movie will also star Phoebe Dynevor, Ashley Walters, Julie Hagerty, Jay O. Sanders, Tracy Ifeachor, Hannah James, Caleb Ruminer, Kieran Mulcare, and Maria Dizzia.
According to previous reports on the movie, Shyamalan and Sparks are co-creating the story, with Shyamalan writing a screenplay and Sparks writing a novel based on the same original story. It’s unclear exactly what the film will be about, however, as any plot details or future casting information remains a mystery for now.
Gyllenhaal’s latest movie was 2024’s Road House, a remake of the 1989 action film, with his next project set to be Guy Ritchie’s upcoming action thriller In the Grey, in which he’ll star alongside Henry Cavill, Eiza González, Rosamund Pike, and more. Jake will also star in an upcoming monster movie titled The Bride!, which is directed by his sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and will also star Jessie Buckley, Christian Bale, Penélope Cruz, Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, and many more.
For Shyamalan, it’ll be his next movie following 2024’s Trap, which starred Josh Hartnett and Ariel Donoghue, as well as his daughter, Saleka Night Shyamalan, who provided original music for the film. Before that, he released a film in 2023, the apocalyptic psychological horror Knock at the Cabin, starring Dave Bautista, Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Kristen Cui, Abby Quinn, and Rupert Grint.
