James Marsden & Kerry Washington’s New Netflix Movie Features Sex & Murder

James Marsden, Kerry Washington, and more are set to star in the upcoming psychological thriller An Innocent Girl, a movie about a high-powered D.C. couple in the world of sex, power, and murder.

What do we know about James Marsden and Kerry Washingtong’s new Netflix movie?

According to a report from Variety, Washington will not only star in the movie, but also act as executive producer. She and Marsden will be joined by Chloe East in the new movie. An Innocent Girl will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who directed Jungle Cruise, Black Adam, 2024’s Carry-On, 2025’s The Woman in the Yard, and the upcoming movie action thriller Cliffhanger.

This will be a reunion between Collet-Serra and Netflix as Variety notes the project will be for the streaming platform as part of Collet-Serra’s overall film deal with the company. Michael Mohan, Marc Guggenheim, and Carly Wray are all credited as writers on the film. The movie’s plot is being kept mostly under wraps but is said to be “about a young and ambitious woman seduced by a high-powered D.C. couple who draw her into a dangerous world of sex, power and murder.”

Washington most recently starred in Rian Johnson’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, as well as in Tyler Perry’s war drama The Six Triple Eight, both of which also landed on Netflix. She’ll next star in the upcoming crime thriller Animals from Ben Affleck.

Marsden’s latest role came in 2024’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3, but he’s set to have a big 2026. The star will appear in the upcoming buddy action comedy Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice and will also reprise his role as Scott Summers/Cyclops in Avengers: Doomsday. East is best known for her role in The Fabelmans, Heretic, and A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.
