The Wrecking Crew 2 Update Teases Jason Momoa & Dave Bautista Prime Video Movie Sequel
Director Ángel Manuel Soto has shared a promising update for The Wrecking Crew 2, a sequel to the Prime Video action movie starring Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista.
What is The Wrecking Crew 2 update?
During an interview with Variety, Soto shared that Momoa and Bautista are interested in returning for The Wrecking Crew 2. Soto believes there is more to explore in this universe and hopes a sequel comes to fruition.
“We left a lot of open-ended moments on purpose so we can solve them with a sequel,” Soto says. “Everyone wants to make it happen.”
Screenwriter Jonathan Tropper has already teased ideas for the sequel.
“We have a pretty strong idea,” Tropper said. “These brothers are now united in a way they weren’t before, and so I think if we did another one, it would be basically to up the ante, up the stakes, and put them in a much more difficult situation than they were in the first one.”
In The Wrecking Crew, Momoa and Bautista play estranged half-brothers Jonny and James, who reconnect after their father’s puzzling death.
“As they set out to uncover the truth, buried secrets resurface and loyalties are tested, unveiling a conspiracy that can tear their family apart,” the official synopsis reads. “Together, they are ready to wreck anything that gets in their way.”
The Wrecking Crew also stars Claes Bang as Marcus Robichaux, Temuera Morrison as Governor Peter Mahoe, Jacob Batalon as Pika, Frankie Adams as Haunani “Nani” Palakiko, Miyavi as Nakamura, Stephen Root as Detective Sergeant Karl Rennert, and Morena Baccarin as Valentina.
The Hawaii-set action comedy is directed by Soto, his first movie since 2023’s Blue Beetle.
The Wrecking Crew was released on Prime Video on January 28. It remains the service’s No. 1 movie in the U.S. The movie currently sits at 77% on Rotten Tomatoes.
