Tony Odyssey: Surreal Drug Robbery Movie Gets Teaser Trailer | Exclusive
ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive trailer for Tony Odyssey, the upcoming surrealist Brazilian epic from director Thales Banzai. This comes ahead of the movie’s world premiere at Slamdance Film Festival in Los Angeles on February 23, 2026.
“Trapped in a grimy roadside bar, Tony, a young Black man, works endlessly to pay off his debt to the ruthless Mr. Casio. Cleaning, fixing, cooking-his life is a cycle of servitude and threats, with no way out. Until Ivy arrives. A longtime friend turned accomplice, she has a plan: rob the bar and escape. Tony is her key—he knows where Casio hides his weapons and the powerful Drug that fuels his operation,” reads the movie’s official synopsis.
“But escape isn’t a place: it’s freedom itself. With their no-way-back heist behind them, they consume the stolen Drug, plunging them into a reality-shattering odyssey. Through fractured memories, a surreal metropolis, and a confrontation with God himself, Tony seeks the ultimate answer: Why is his life the way it is? But he doesn’t just want answers. What happens in the Tony Odyssey teaser trailer?
The teaser trailer introduces acclaimed actor Kelson Succi (Bluesman) as Tony and Salvador-born actress Iraci Estrela as Ivy, who are long-time friends trying to change their destiny by stealing from a dangerous man. However, their heist leads them to an unexpected surrealist journey, after consuming the powerful drug they’ve just stolen. The video offers a glimpse into the duo’s long epic adventure, where crime, faith, and illusion collide in a search for God.
Tony Odyssey is directed by Banzai, who co-wrote the screenplay with Succi. The movie also stars Sandro Guerra as Mr. Casio, Antônio Pitanga as Mr. Humbert, Leci Brandão as Great Granny, and Teuda Bara as Grandma Sheilla, with Luiz Bertazzo and Chico César. It is produced by Banzai, Camila Cornelsen, and Mario Peixoto, with Marcela Sutter, Laura Barzotto, and Estevão Meneguzzo serving as executive producers.
