A24 released the second trailer for Undertone ahead of the film’s theatrical debut on March 13, 2026.

It opens with the line, “Welcome to the Undertone podcast, where we talk about all things creepy,” framing the film’s narrative through an in-universe podcast. The two podcast hosts are introduced via dialogue: “your in-house sceptic, Evie Babbage,” and “my believer co-host, Justin Manuel.” This establishes the film’s core dynamic between belief and skepticism.

The trailer introduces the main mystery through Justin’s line, “10 mysterious audio recordings from an anonymous email,” suggesting an unsolicited and unexplained source. Evie’s cautious responses, “keep an open mind,” and “I mean, yes, it’s a demotic possession,” convey her initial hesitation and analytical stance. The dialogue fragments intensify, with phrases such as “Okay, easy, easy,” and “All right. Here, here, something,” indicating real-time reactions to the recordings.

Midway, Evie states, “I’ve heard weird stuff before, but this feels different,” signaling a shift in tone. Justin replies, “You believe that?” maintaining their contrasting views. The trailer concludes with escalating stakes through lines like “Only one way to find out,” “If it’s like this, it’s too late,” and “What were you thinking?” The final spoken line, “It’s what she wants,” alludes to an unseen presence, ending the trailer without visual resolution.

Debut filmmaker Ian Tuason wrote and directed Undertone. Nina Kiri portrays Evy, a paranormal podcast host. She becomes involved in disturbing events after receiving recordings of strange sounds from a couple’s home.

The film shows only Evy on-screen. All other characters appear as off-screen voices, emphasizing a sound-driven approach. Undertone premiered at Fantasia on July 27, 2025. It won the gold audience award, and A24 later acquired the film in a seven-figure deal.

Undertone opens in theaters March 13, 2026.
