F1 2: Brad Pitt Movie Sequel Gets Release Date Update at Apple TV Event

Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has shared a positive update about the possibility of producing a sequel to 2025’s F1: The Movie. This comes after the Brad Pitt-led sports drama had just received four Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture.

What’s the new release date update for Brad Pitt’s F1 2?

Per THR, during a recent Apple TV event, when asked about the F1 sequel, Domenicali answered that the audience should “stay tuned,” teasing the company’s plans to release a more detailed announcement in the future. Should they indeed push through with the sequel, the Formula 1 boss believes that it would take a while before the potential F1 2 arrives in theaters.

“We’re going to tell you something more in the future,” Domenicali shared. “Never say never. But we need to digest more the success of this movie because it was something unique. And if you want to think of a new one, it has to be really, very, very good. Therefore, if this will happen, it will not be for next year. But maybe next year we’re going to be here [at the press day], and hopefully we have something more to announce [then].”

Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski directed F1: The Movie from a screenplay written by Ehren Kruger. The cast also included Damson Idris as Joshua Pearce, Kerry Condon as Kate, Javier Bardem as Rubén, Tobias Menzies as Banning, Kim Bodnia as Kaspar, Shea Whigham as Chip, Sarah Niles as Bernadette, and more. During its theatrical run, the movie earned a worldwide gross of over $631 million at the box office, making it Pitt’s highest-grossing film to date.

The movie also featured appearances from real-life Formula 1 racers, including producer Lewis Hamilton, Carlos Sainz Jr., and more. Kosinski and Pitt also served as producers alongside Jerry Bruckheimer, Hamilton, Jeremy Kleiner, Dede Gardner, and Chad Omen, with Daniel Lupi serving as an executive producer. The film currently holds a Certified Fresh rating of 82% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 364 reviews.

F1 is now available for streaming on Apple TV.
