Iron Man 2 Villain Wants a Team up With Ant-Man 2 Baddie in Armor Wars

Sam Rockwell recently commented on the future of Marvel’s Armor Wars and the possibility of returning to the franchise. The actor suggested that his Iron Man 2 character, Justin Hammer, could appear alongside Walton Goggins’ Sonny Burch.

Sam Rockwell says Justin Hammer and Sonny Burch could be Armor Wars’ villains

Sam Rockwell has once again addressed the status of Marvel Studios’ long-developing project Armor Wars. He even raised the possibility that his MCU character, Justin Hammer, could appear in Armor Wars alongside Walton Goggins’ Sonny Burch.

During an interview with ScreenRant, the actor reacted with surprise when asked about the film. “Oh, Armor Wars. Oh, you mean the Marvel thing?” he said, before adding, “Is that being made?”

When told the project had been in development for some time, Rockwell shifted the focus to Goggins, asking whether his former White Lotus co-star had ever portrayed a superhero. After learning that Goggins previously played Sonny Burch in Ant-Man and the Wasp, Rockwell floated the idea of the two characters joining forces. He stated, “Oh yeah. Walt and I could team up like bad guys, that kind of thing.”

The actor went on to speak enthusiastically about the possibility of returning to the franchise, particularly as Justin Hammer. “It’s definitely a fun character. It’d be fun to play either that or a supervillain. It’d be great,” Rockwell said.

The project was first announced as a Disney+ series led by Don Cheadle’s James Rhodes before being reworked into a theatrical film, with Cheadle still attached and Yassir Lester remaining as writer. Marvel has shared very few updates since then, though reports have suggested that Walton Goggins could return as Sonny Burch, the character he played in Ant-Man and the Wasp.

At present, Marvel Studios has not confirmed additional casting or outlined the plot for Armor Wars. With production details still unknown, Rockwell’s comments have fueled anticipation among fans.
