Alexander Skarsgård Says He Deserves to Be a Sex Symbol

Alexander Skarsgård said he “deserves” his sex symbol title in an interview on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast.

Skarsgård, who hosted the January 31 edition of Saturday Night Live, playfully revealed his thoughts on his Hollywood status. During the podcast, host Shepard asked Skarsgård: “Do you connect to the sex symbol aspect of you, do you understand it or do you—”

Skarsgård cut off Shepard, replying: “Oh, 100%.”

Shepard laughed: “I mean, you can’t technically say yes,” to which Skarsgård replied: “I technically just did.”

The joking exchange led to Skarsgård asking if Shepard had ever hosted a “sexier” guest than him, with Shepard noting that they hadn’t, but that a potential upcoming candidate. That candidate is Brad Pitt, with both Skarsgård and Shepard agreeing on the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood… actor’s broad appeal, though with Skarsgård also noting that he doesn’t believe Pitt likes him after he invaded the Hollywood star’s personal space.

Alexander Skarsgård recently starred in The Moment, a mockumentary from filmmaker Aidan Zamiri that follows singer Charli XCX preparing for her first headlining tour. The film received a tepid response from critics, leading to a disappointing Rotten Tomatoes score. One critic branded the unconventional movie “an unfunny, boring experience.”

However, Skarsgård’s recent turn on SNL was more positively received, with the first-time host proving well-equipped to host the historic 1000th episode of the iconic sketch show. Alexander even brought out his father, Andor’s Stellan Skarsgård, for two cameos during the show, appearing in the sketches ‘Scandinavian Movie 2’ and ‘Immigrant Dad Talk Show.’
