Jacob Elordi Ended up in Hospital While Making Wuthering Heights

In the build-up to the highly anticipated release of Wuthering Heights, actor Jacob Elordi has shared a shocking behind-the-scenes anecdote that ended with him having to go to the hospital. He revealed in a recent interview how a habit he developed after filming Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein led to a serious injury on the set of his upcoming romantic drama with Margot Robbie.

The Euphoria star recently recalled that it all started with a simple joke from BAFTA-nominated hair and makeup designer, Siân Miller.

“Something peculiar that happened while we were filming was when the make-up artist [Miller] was designing the scars from the whips for Heathcliff’s back. She challenged me: ‘If Daniel Day-Lewis was playing Heathcliff, he would have come in with scars.’ I said, ‘Well, I’m going to go away and maim myself on the weekend to prove to you that I’m Heathcliff!” Jacob Elordi noted while speaking with Esquire UK.

The Australian actor then explained that due to the excessive makeup he had to wear while filming Frankenstein, he had adopted a routine to “clean my feet properly every night,” after navigating his way through “mange and dirt” every day on the Wuthering Heights set.

However, this habit ultimately ended up backfiring on Elordi. While taking one such steam shower, he ended up suffering an injury. “So I went to clean my feet, and I leant back and my back seared into the steam knob and I stood up screaming; it tore up my back. When I went to work on Monday I had a second-degree burn,” shared Elordi.

Meanwhile, Wuthering Heights director Emerald Fennell only learned of her actor’s plight from a producer and instantly thought to herself, “Oh my god, he’s had a car accident.”

Despite the severity of the incident, Jacob Elordi seems to have moved past it pretty fast. When asked by Fennell if he attributes Daniel Day-Lewis for his injury, Elordi hilariously noted, “It was actual Daniel Day-Lewis. In the shower.”

Based on Emily Brontë’s 1847 novel of the same name, Wuthering Heights is on track to hit theaters on February 13, 2026.
