Best Comedy Movies on Tubi (February 2026)

Originally established in 2014, Tubi has grown into one of the most popular streaming services in the world. The ad-sponsored platform boasts a large library with over 40,000 movies and television series. This includes many of the greatest comedy movies of all time.

What are the best Comedy Movies on Tubi?

When it comes to comedies, variety is the watch word on Tubi. There are romantic comedies, family films, slapstick pictures, and all manner of ludicrous fun. The following chronological list is composed of five films widely agreed to be true classic comedies.

The Producers (1967)

In times past, Max Bialystock (Zero Mostel) was the king of Broadway. Alas, the once beloved theatre impresario has fallen on hard times and his latest show flopped furiously. However, salvation arrives in the unlikely form of Max’s new accountant, Leo Bloom (Gene Wilder).

While balancing the books on the failed show, Leo discovers that Max actually made a profit by spending far less than he raised. This leads Leo to propose that one could make more money off a flop than a hit. Max and Leo determine that sure-fire failure is “Springtime for Hitler,” which proposes to tell the story of “the true (Adolf) Hitler… with a song in his heart.”

Thus begins a mad quest to make the worst musical ever, with Bialystock and Bloom seeking out the show’s author, a fugitive Nazi. With the rights secured, they recruit flamboyant director Roger DeBris to manage the fiasco. The icing on the rotten cake is casting burn-out Lorenzo St. DuBois (known to his friends as LSD) in the role of Adolf Hitler.

The Producers was Mel Brooks’ first feature-length film as a director and screenwriter. Nearly six decades later, it remains one of his best and one of the funniest comedies of all time. The film was not a hit on release, barely making back its budget. However, it became a cult classic and earned Brooks an Oscar for Best Story and Screenplay – Written Directly for the Screen. It also inspired an actual Broadway musical in 2001, which still holds the record for the most Tony Award wins.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)

Monty Python and the Holy Grail was the second film made by British sketch comedy troupe Monty Python. In many ways, however, it is their first film, as 1971’s And Now For Something Completely Different was a “best of” anthology recreating skits from their show. ‘The Holy Grail,’ by contrast, is an original work and has a basic plot structure… barely.

The film finds Arthur, King of the Britons (Graham Chapman) wandering the land in search of knights to join him in his court at Camelot. They quickly decide this is a bad idea because Camelot “’tis a silly place.” Thankfully, God Himself offers a better plot hook, and charges King Arthur and his knights with seeking out the Holy Grail.

What follows is a chaotic journey through Arthurian legend, as the knights face great perils and challenges. These include vicious monsters, tetchy guardians, the French, rampaging maidens, and shopping for a decent shrubbery. The end result is a cult classic, with a huge following among Dungeons and Dragons players and medieval scholars alike.

This last point surprises many, but Monty Python and the Holy Grail is considered one of the truest cinematic adaptations of the King Arthur stories by academics. This is largely credited to the influence of co-director Terry Jones, who was a scholar of medieval history and literature at Oxford. However, the movie is also admired for what Monty Python accomplished with a budget so low they couldn’t rent horses. This inspired the famous visual of the knights pretending to ride, with their squires following behind banging coconut halves together.

I’m Gonna Git You Sucka (1988)

With the war over, soldier Jack Spade (Keenen Ivory Wayans) returns to Any Ghetto, USA. Unfortunately, the joy of his homecoming is soured by the news that his brother, Goldbug, overdosed on gold chains and died. This leads Spade to assemble a crew to clean up their community and take on the chain-lord Mr. Big.

Before going on to redefine American sketch comedy with the show In Living Color, Keenen Ivory Wayans made I’m Gonna Get You Sucka. The film satirized the cliches of the blaxploitation genre that defined manyt of the movies Wayans and his siblings grew up watching. However, like most great film parodies, it was also a love letter to the movies it lampooned. (Indeed, many of these movies are also available on Tubi.)

Wayans wrote and directed the movie in addition to starring in it as Jack Spade. However, while he did cast several members of his family, he also brought in many great blaxploitation actors to parody their most famous roles. This includes Isaac Hayes and Jim Brown as Hammer and Slammer. The movie made Wayans’ reputation and led to his producing more spoofs, including several of the Scary Movie franchise.

My Blue Heaven (1990)

Vinnie Antonelli (Steve Martin) is a gangster turned informant, newly placed into Federal Witness Protection. Unfortunately, the flashy Vinnie sticks out like a sore thumb in the suburbs of San Diego to which he has been relocated. This proves to be a problem for both Vinne’s handler, FBI Agent Barney Coopersmith (Rick Moranis), and local District Attorney Hannah Stubbs (Joan Cusack). Despite this, Vinnie comes to bond with Barney, as both men cope with their wives leaving them. This leads the life-long mobster to earnestly go straight, as the straight-laced lawman starts to loosen up.

My Blue Heaven was originally written by Nora Ephron as a vehicle for Goldie Hawn, who was interested in the role of Hannah Stubbs. She later had to decline the role, but remained on the film as a producer. Later, Arnold Schwarzenegger was offered the role of Vinnie, after Danny DeVito turned it down.

Steve Martin was cast as Barney Coopersmith, based on his history of playing stiff authority figures in screwball comedies. However, Schwarzenegger left the project to make Kindergarten Cop instead. When comedic character actor Rick Moranis was considered for the role of Vinnie, it was suggested that he and Martin switch roles and play against type.

There is some debate as to how well this worked. However, Martin and Moranis do have good chemistry together. The best scenes in the movie play off the odd friendship that forms between Vinnie and Barney. Martin also injects genuine pathos into Vinnie’s character. This is most visible when Vinnie is questioned by a defense attorney about everything he “got” in exchange for becoming a stool pigeon. “I get to never see my parents again,” Vinnie replies. The end result is both touching and one of the funniest comedy movies to be found on Tubi.

School of Rock (2003)

Dewey Finn (Jack Black) is an aspiring rock star who makes up in enthusiasm what he lacks in luck. Unfortunately, enthusiasm doesn’t pay the rent, which puts Dewey in hot water with his roommates. Things get even worse when his band, No Vacancy, elect to replace Dewey with a guitarist name Spider.

Hope arrives when Dewey answers a letter addressed to his roommate, Ned. The letter offers a short-term job as a substitute music teacher at an exclusive private school. This leads Dewey to take on the role of “Mr. S.” It also leads to hijinks ensuing, even as what Dewey teaches his charges about accepting themselves proves as valuable as his music lessons.

School of Rock was an unexpected critical and commercial success upon its initial release. It more than made back its budget, and cemented Jack Black’s status as a comedy icon. It was also honored as Best Picture of 2023 at the 2004 British Comedy Awards.
