John Rambo Prequel Movie Gets Exciting Update, Sets Cast
Lionsgate has shared an exciting update on the upcoming John Rambo prequel movie, revealing more of the film’s cast in the process.
What is the latest John Rambo prequel movie update?
According to Lionsgate, the upcoming prequel movie, titled John Rambo, has officially begun production in Bangkok, Thailand. The movie, starring Noah Centineo, has also announced more of its star-studded ensemble cast.
Alongside Centineo, the movie will also star Yao (Sinners), Jason Tobin (A Thousand Blows), Quincy Isaiah (Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty), Jefferson White (Yellowstone), and Tayme Thapthimthong (The White Lotus).
“John Rambo takes audiences back, years before the events of First Blood, diving deep into the roots and experiences that forged one of the big screen’s most enduring and complex characters,” reads the official logline for the film.
The Rambo prequel will be directed by Jalmari Helander (Sisu, Big Game), and is said to follow the story of a young John Rambo during his time in the Vietnam War. Sylvester Stallone, who made the role of Rambo legendary, is said to be aware of the movie, but not involved at the moment. However, the door is “open” for him to potential appear in the movie should he be willing.
The Rambo franchise stretches across five films, beginning with 1982’s First Blood, which was an adaptation of the 1972 novel of the same by David Morrell. The latest film in the series, Rambo: Last Blood, released in 2019, and was directed by Adrian Grünberg. That film starred Stallone as an older Rambo.
