What happens in the Dolly trailer?

While nothing in the way of plot is shown in the Dolly trailer, it does show off some incredibly creepy promise. The trailer highlights the figure of an unsettling figure wearing a doll mask and terrorizing people while looking for someone to raise as their own child. The movie promises a “violent backwood slasher,” with practical effects and more.

Alongside Scott, Dolly also stars Fabianne Therese, Ethan Suplee, and Max the Impaler. The movie comes from Rod Blackhurst, who previously wrote the 2024 horror film Night Swim and directed the 2016 film Amanda Knox and 2023’s Blood for Dust.

Dolly was co-written by Blackhurst and Brandon Weavil. Seann William Scott is best known for starring in the American Pie film series, where he had his breakout. He’s appeared in a litany of films and is no stranger to the horror genre, starring in 2000’s Final Destination as well.
