Scarlett Johansson’s Exorcist Movie Cast Adds Acclaimed Oscar Nominee
An acclaimed Oscar nominee has joined the cast of the new Exorcist movie.
The Haunting of Hill House’s Mike Flanagan is making the next chapter in The Exorcist franchise. Arriving in 2027, the cast of the movie so far includes Scarlett Johansson and Jacobi Jupe.
Who has joined the cast of the new Exorcist movie?
Per Deadline, it has now been announced that Diane Lane will also star in Flanagan’s Exorcist flick.
There’s no word on who Lane will play in the movie, as plot details are being kept under wraps at this time. All that’s known is that the film “will tell an all-new story set in The Exorcist universe,” meaning that this will not be a sequel to David Gordon Green’s The Exorcist: Believer, which was released in 2023. That movie was originally meant to launch a trilogy, but those plans fell through.
Lane received a Best Actress Academy Award nomination for her performance in 2002’s Unfaithful, while she’s also received three Primetime Emmy Award nominations throughout her career, the most recent of which was in 2024 for Feud: Capote vs. The Swans. Also known for playing Martha Kent in the DCEU, Lane’s filmography further includes 1983’s The Outsiders, 1984’s Streets of Fire, 2000’s The Perfect Storm, 2003’s Under the Tuscan Sun, 2020’s Let Him Go, and more.
The script for the new Exorcist movie comes from Flanagan. He also produces the film for his Red Room Pictures banner alongside David Robinson for Morgan Creek Entertainment and Jason Blum for Blumhouse-Atomic Monster. Alexandra Magistro and Ryan Turek both serve as executive producers.
Production is expected to take place in New York City. The new Exorcist movie, which has yet to receive an official title, will be released in United States theaters on Friday, March 12, 2027, from Universal Pictures.
