Chris Pratt Breaks Down Fans’ Most Hates Star-Lord Scene

Chris Pratt weighed in on fans’ hatred of Star-Lord for his massive blunder in Avengers: Infinity War. In the 2018 blockbuster, Peter Quill ruined his and the other heroes’ plan of trapping Thanos and separating him from his Infinity Gauntlet by attacking the Mad Titan after learning he sacrificed Gamora for the Soul Stone, which inadvertently created an opening for Thanos to escape. Consequently, his actions not only helped Thanos succeed in snapping away half of the universe but also kicked off a series of events resulting in Iron Man’s death in Endgame.

Star-Lord reacts to people hating Star-Lord after Avengers: Infinity War

In a recent appearance on Out of Order’s Scene Stealers, Chris Pratt watched and broke down several iconic scenes from his filmography. Naturally, his divisive scene from Avengers: Infinity War, where Star-Lord attacks Thanos after learning he killed Gamora and inadvertently ruins the heroes’ plan of stripping the Infinity Gauntlet from the latter, came up. After watching the scene, the Parks and Recreation alum said he currently viewed it “differently” from when he first filmed it.

“What’s wild about this scene is people eviscerate Quill because of his responsibility for essentially getting Iron Man killed for that moment,” he added. “You know that human moment where people hate this character for a while, and I really felt that.”

Chris Pratt continued, recalling that frustrated fans would approach him on the street and ask him why Star-Lord ruined the heroes’ efforts. Pratt added that he defended himself by telling them he didn’t do anything. He also joked that if he didn’t do what he did, fans would get a 30-minute-long movie instead of two movies — Infinity War and Endgame.

“We got him. That’s not a movie. You know what I mean?” He further stated. “So, looking at it now, I kind of feel the weight of and the ramifications of what happened to the character of Quill because of that.”

“I’m still happy that it happened,” the Mercy star continued. But I didn’t understand that it would be iconic.”
