Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman Returns in New Video Shot on Phone

Zack Snyder revisited a key moment from Wonder Woman’s cinematic journey with a newly released behind-the-scenes video. The short clip features Gal Gadot returning to a familiar role in a slow-motion display of one of the character’s signature moves.

Zack Snyder shares Gal Gadot’s first Wonder Woman gauntlet smash

Zack Snyder shared a behind-the-scenes video from the set of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The clip shows Gal Gadot performing her epic Gauntlet Smash practice.

Snyder captioned the Instagram post, “First ever Gauntlet Smash practice with @gal_gadot Shot on my phone. Pure joy, pure power”. The footage was accompanied by Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL’s “Is She With You?” — the official Wonder Woman theme. The video was posted 1 day ago and received 64.5K likes and 2.1K comments at the time of writing.

The scene references Wonder Woman’s iconic gauntlet clash, a signature move introduced in her DCEU debut in 2016’s Batman v Superman. That film marked the first time Wonder Woman appeared in a live-action theatrical release alongside Batman and Superman. The film earned $874.4 million globally but holds a 28% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics delivering a largely negative reception.

Gal Gadot returned as Diana Prince in multiple DCEU films: Wonder Woman (2017), Justice League (2017), Wonder Woman 1984 (2020), Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021), Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023), and The Flash (2023).

In 2023, Gadot stated that her discussions with James Gunn and Peter Safran indicated she would reprise the role, but DC Studios later denied those plans. DC Studios cancelled Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 3 shortly after its internal restructuring.

Ana Nogueira, who wrote Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, is currently developing a new Wonder Woman project. DC Studios has not announced the casting for the new Wonder Woman project. The studio also does not plan to include the character in Superman: Legacy or Man of Tomorrow.
