James Bond Update Eyes 2026 Oscar Nominee as New 007 Actor

Another new James Bond update has suggested that Denis Villeneuve and Amazon could be zeroing in on an actor to play the iconic spy James Bond.

Who is the newest favorite to play James Bond in the new 007 movie?

According to a new report from Showbiz411, Jacob Elordi is currently one of several actors who has been eyed to play Bond. The report mentions he’s already had meetings with both producers and director Denis Villeneuve on the project. Following his recent Oscar nomination for his role in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, it could propel him to the top of the list.

Elordi is one of several actors who’s name has been floated as a potential favorite for the role. Alongside him, Callum Turner has also been a name that oddsmakers have said has high potential to replace Daniel Craig as Bond.

Currently, little is known about Villeneuve’s upcoming James Bond movie. The film will be written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, and will be the first Bond movie made since Amazon gained full control of the franchise.

The new agreement between Amazon and longtime Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson sees Amazon MGM Studios and the duo forming a new joint venture house to house the intellectual property rights for the Bond franchise. The next film in the series remains mostly mysterious, but will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, and written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.

The three parties (Amazon, Wilson, and Broccoli) will remain co-owners of the Bond series, but now Amazon MGM Studios will have creative control, something that Broccoli and Wilson had retained before. Prior to the announcement, both Wilson and Broccoli had been known as fiercely protective over the franchise, but in a statement on the move, Wilson noted that he was stepping back to focus more on art and charitable projects, while Broccoli said she would be focusing on other projects now.
