Batman DCU Movie Update Reveals The Flash Director’s Current Involvement
A new update regarding The Brave and the Bold Batman DCU movie casts some doubt regarding The Flash director Andy Muschietti’s involvement.
In January 2023, James Gunn announced that a Brave and the Bold movie would be part of his and Peter Safran’s DCU for Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios. Gunn said at the time, “The introduction of the DCU’s Batman is The Brave and the Bold. The Brave and the Bold is the story of Batman and his actual son, Damian Wayne. This is based on Grant Morrison’s great comic book run. Damian Wayne is my favorite Robin. He’s a little assassin who Batman tries to get in line. So, this is the story of the two of them, and the beginning of sort of the Bat-Family in the DCU.”
Muschietti was tapped to direct the movie in June 2023; however, the project has not yet come to fruition, as The Brave and the Bold does not have a release date at this time.
What is the update on The Brave and the Bold Batman DCU movie?
Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider just recently reported that Christina Hodson has been tapped to work on the script of The Brave and the Bold. Hodson has written projects such as 2018’s Bumblebee, 2020’s Birds of Prey, and 2023’s The Flash.
While confirming the news about Hodson’s involvement, an article from The Hollywood Reporter makes it unclear if Muschietti will end up directing the movie. The story notes that he “remains on board” at this time; however, “his ultimate involvement depends on several factors including timing and availability. The filmmaker now finds himself a hot commodity thanks to the muscular success of Welcome to Derry, HBO’s It series.”
There’s been no official announcement regarding Muschietti departing The Brave and the Bold, meaning it should be assumed that he’s directing the movie for the time being. More details are bound to come out in the future, though how long fans will have to wait to know more is unclear, as The Hollywood Reporter mentions that it’s “unclear how far along is Brave and the Bold in the writing process.”
