One of the stars of Hamnet has been tapped to star in Robert Eggers’ new Werwulf movie.
Werwulf is an upcoming period piece horror flick directed by Eggers, who is known for making 2015’s The Witch, 2019’s The Lighthouse, 2022’s The Northman, and, most recently, 2024’s Nosferatu. The film is scheduled to be released in United States theaters this December.
Who has joined the cast of Robert Eggers’ Werwulf movie?
Per Deadline, the cast of Werwulf now includes Bodhi Rae Breathnach.
Breathnach played Susanna, William Shakespeare and Agnes’ older daughter, in Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet movie. Before that, she starred in episodes of The Capture and So Awkward Academy, while she’ll soon be seen starring alongside Jason Statham and Bill Nighy in the forthcoming action movie Shelter, which is being released at the end of this month.
Additionally, Breathnach has been cast in the new Sense and Sensibility movie that also arrives later this year. That movie is directed by Georgia Oakley and will see Breathnach play Margaret Dashwood, while the cast also includes Daisy Edgar-Jones as Elinor Dashwood, Esmé Creed-Miles as Marianne Dashwood, and Frank Dillane as John Willoughby, among others.

“The werewolf tale, which began filming in the UK last fall, is set in 13th-century England and sees a mysterious creature stalk the land as local folklore becomes a terrifying reality,” a brief description of the plot reads.
With a that was script co-written by Eggers and Sjón, Werwulf will be released in United States theaters on December 25, 2026, from Focus Features.
