2 Supernatural Stars Would Love to Reprise Batman Roles in DCU

Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins recently reunited for The Road So Far… The Road Ahead convention in Las Vegas this past weekend, where both made it clear that they are ready for James Gunn to bring them back as their respective Batman characters.

What did Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins say about the DCU?

Ackles remains a popular pick for Bruce Wayne/Batman in Gunn’s DC Universe. The actor has experience in the role, having previously played the character in animation. He voiced the Dark Knight in the Tomorrowverse series of DC Animated Movies, appearing in Batman: The Long Halloween (2021), Legion of Super-Heroes, Justice League: Warworld (both 2023), and Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths (2024).

As for Collins, he was a series regular on the short-lived CW series Gotham Knights. He portrayed Gotham City District Attorney Harvey Dent, who in the series finale is burned with acid and becomes Two-Face.

Per ComicBookMovie, both actors discussed reprising their DC roles during the convention’s Supernatural panel, with Ackles stating, “There are probably a few [dream roles]. Yes, somebody up here yelled Batman. Yes, that is certainly a dream role. I mean, I’ve got a few go-tos: Batman, Wyatt Earp, Robin Hood, that kind of stuff.”

Collins dove a bit deeper with his response, noting first that Sebastian Stan had recently been cast to play Harvey Dent in Matt Reeves’ forthcoming The Batman Part II.

“Playing Two-Face was a dream role. Sebastian Stan just got cast as Two-Face in the next Batman movie, which I did not not feel jealous about,” the actor joked. “I was like, ‘Grrr,’ and if he were to meet with an accident and they needed to find . . . I’d certainly free up my schedule to make myself available.”

Ackles and Collins still have a chance to play Batman and Two-Face again, as neither role has been cast yet in the DCU. Unfortunately for both actors, DC Studios seems to be taking its time with developing The Brave and the Bold, with Gunn recently stating that fans should not expect any major updates for the movie until The Batman Part II is finished.

In the meantime, audiences can stream Gotham Knights and select Tomorrowverse movies on HBO Max.
