DCU Batman Movie Gets Major Update, Superhero Movie Vet Writing Script
The writer for The Brave and the Bold has been revealed for the Batman DCU movie.
Who is writing the DCU Batman movie?
According to Jeff Sneider of The InSneider Newsletter, Christina Hodson is the current writer of The Brave and the Bold. Hodson has experience writing DC movies, having authored the screenplays to Birds of Prey and The Flash.
Why has James Gunn kept Hodson’s involvement a secret? Sneider believes it could be to “shield” the writer from the strain that comes from penning a Batman screenplay.
“I don’t know if her DC track record explains why Gunn wanted to keep this hire under wraps, but he has intimated that he hoped to shield the then-unnamed writer of The Brave and the Bold from the public pressure that comes with writing a Batman movie,” Sneider wrote.
Sneider says it’s possible that the Batman DCU movie could be in the middle of “significant creative changes” and that Hodson could be working on another DCU project, hence Gunn’s refusal to announce the writer.
“But as of now, to the best of my knowledge, it’s Hodson whom Gunn has been referring to in his cryptic statements in recent months,” Sneider explained. “Again, Hodson could be replaced tomorrow for all I know, but as of tonight, I have no reason to think it’s anyone else.”
Gunn and his co-CEO of DC Studios, Peter Safran, announced The Brave and the Bold when they revealed the first slate of DCU projects. The Batman film is a father-son story between Bruce Wayne (Batman) and his son, Damian (Robin).
The Flash’s Andy Muschietti was hired to direct The Brave and the Bold in June 2023. However, it’s unknown if Muschietti is still involved in the project. It will feature the DCU’s version of Batman, who will be different from Robert Pattinson‘s version in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
The Brave and the Bold does not have a release date.
