Superman’s Entire Script Revealed To Read

James Gunn sparked conversation online after revealing his entire 132-page Superman script ahead of the upcoming awards season. The writer-director shared the full screenplay, offering a rare look at the detailed framework behind his DC Universe reboot.

James Gunn shows Superman’s entire screenplay

James Gunn publicly released the full screenplay of Superman on January 21, 2026. He posted, “For your enjoyment, the Superman screenplay,” on X (@JamesGunn), along with a link to the screenplay on the official Superman website. The post had 1.4 million views as of that morning. This release followed Warner Bros.’ official move to make the screenplay available for awards consideration.

Warner Bros. released the full script as part of its campaign for the film during the 2025–2026 awards season. James Gunn’s Superman previously opened with a domestic box office of $125 million and a global launch of $220 million. According to Variety, Warner Bros. submitted the film in several Golden Globe categories, including Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Actor – Drama (David Corenswet), Best Supporting Actor (Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult), and James Gunn for Directing and Screenplay.

Despite Warner Bros.’ submissions, the Golden Globes gave Superman no nominations. When the 2026 ceremony aired on January 11, the awards left out Gunn’s film from the Outstanding Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category. This category honors films that grossed over $150 million worldwide. Variety reported the exclusion of Superman—the highest-grossing superhero movie of 2025—as a major snub.

The film still remains in the race for the 2026 Academy Awards. On December 16, 2025, the Academy released shortlists for 12 categories. It included Superman in the Sound and Visual Effects categories. The film is the only DC title to appear. Captain America: Brave New World is the only Marvel film on the list. Marvel’s Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four: First Steps did not make the shortlist.

The Academy will announce final Oscar nominations on January 22, 2026.
